Building a Community

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to take a moment and express how happy I am at how this blog has been growing into something more than a stock footage repository/dump.  I want to thank all of you who have commented, asked questions or passed along links or suggestions.  Doing this by myself has been a great challenge and it is encouraging to know there are people out there benefiting  and finding a real world use for my random clips.  If you haven't already, I hope you would consider joining me on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter (just signed up!), or all 3.  This site has grown thanks to your "likes", "subscriptions" and "re-tweets" and my wish is that it keeps evolving past "just a blog" into more of a "creative community".  I look forward to talking and interacting with you.  Please help yourself to the links below and find us on your preferred social media outlet and please, let your friends, students, teachers and colleagues know!

Dealing with the light flicker while shooting high speed with the Sony NEX-FS700 - My personal experience and simple fix.

In my short time so far with the Sony NEX-FS700, I have been trying to put it through it's technological paces.  A big part of this testing, and a big draw for most people, is the slow motion capabilities. (Full 1080 HD, 240 frames per second in 8'ish second bursts).

I want to preface this whole article by stating that the "light flicker" is not something that is wrong with the camera.  It is something that naturally occurs with the usage of artificial/studio lighting powered by AC current.  There is a great in-depth explanation about lighting flicker at high speeds at the Abel Cine website in a FAQ about the Phantom High Speed Camera.

Small Equipment Update for Everybody

Hey Everybody,

Work has been busy for me lately, but I have a few clips I'm going to be uploading very soon.  I also just ordered a Fotodiox Lens Mount Adapter - Minolta MD to Canon EOS Camera Adapter for shooting. This will hopefully give me even more flexibility. I have plenty of 35mm MD lenses that I would love to try out on my T2i (When is the T4i coming out anyways?!?!?!).

THANK YOU SO MUCH TO THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE DONATED!!!!!!

Every donation improves the quality of the footage offered, and the speed that I am able to get it to you.  This adapter will also be added to my Gear I Use page to keep you guys updated on what I use to do what I do.

Great Deal today on SDHC and SDXC memory Cards (4/2/12)

Hey Everyone,

I have posted this deal on the Facebook Fan page as well, but wanted to make sure everyone is aware of it.  Today (April 2, 2012) Amazon has for their Gold Box Deal Sandisk Ultra Class 10 Memory Cards.  These are perfect for DSLR shooting.  Personally, I have my eye on the 64gb SDXC.  I don't have anything right now over 16GB and I fill those up with my time  lapses quickly.  I think if I get the 64gb SDXC Card, I can try my hand at RAW HDR Time Lapses. (LOTS OF PICTURES).  Now if only my computer can handle processing them ...

You can get your here: Amazon Gold Box Deals: SanDisc Ultra Class 10 Memory Cards

Let me know if you end up getting some!  And Friend us on Facebook!

We have finally made a Facebook Fan Page!

Hey everyone!  After 7 months and 80+ clips, I have finally gotten around to making a Facebook Fan page.
Please, Please, Please take the time to go visit it at www.facebook.com/BeachfrontBRoll and give it a "like". I don't like not having any "friends" : (

I will be doing my best to populate the page with goodies.

It's just another way we can keep in contact and you can socialize with not only myself, but other stock video users.

Please also do me a favor and pass this page around to others by suggesting it to any of your "friends" who would be interested in not only utilizing stock video footage or looping backgrounds, but who might also just be interested in watching a good video.

You can also post and share your work with me!

Thanks a lot and I'll see you somewhere, whether it is on FB, Blogger or Youtube!

Another GREAT deal today

Hey All,

Wanted to post real quick to let you know that Amazon's Gold Box Deal of the day is for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3.

Although not 100% video related, this is THE program for photographers and digital imagers.  I will be venturing into the RAW format for my timelapses and HDR shots, and I think I will be picking this program up today.  I just wanted to give everyone a heads up if they are interested in photo processing, organization and editing of digital images.  I am really interested in the noise reduction features, I hear that they are AMAZING!

Once again, just wanted to pass it along if you haven't seen the deal today.  It is just today only, so check it out!

HAPPY LEAP YEAR DAY!!!!

If you use Lightroom, feel free to drop me some hints or tips in the comment section below.

Great Deal Today

Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to pass along this great deal if you haven't seen it. It is Amazon.com's "gold box deal of the day" (2/17/12) which offers Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Elements for 69.99 (Usually the price for just one or the other).

If you are using Windows Movie Maker or iMovie, this will be a VERY powerful step up for you. Photoshop Elements alone is worth it at this price. Very Powerful stuff. Plus HD editing in Premiere is simple and I can almost guarantee compatibility with my clips. (since I use Premiere Pro CS5 )

Anyways, stay tuned for some more clips and information regarding this blog.

I'll keep you posted if I come across any other great deals as well. (Only ones I endorse though!)

Pre-emtive Posting!

Just wanted to give everyone out there in my community a heads up.  Please don't open any shortcuts or links or hyperlinks or anything that you think MAY come from my blog.  I don't have a mass e-mail list, and Google trustingly will e-mail you when my blog is updated.  Looking at the statistics for recent visits has shown me that there are a few "SPAMBOT" sites out there repeatedly hitting this blog.  My guess is that they might be trying to sign in or do something. (Comment maybe?)  but so far I have gotten traffic from googlecorrection.com (not real), justforlaughsgags.tv (not real), 777seo.com (not real), and domar.ru (not real).

So please be careful when browsing and opening e-mails.  I would go so far as to say, if you see a comment on this site that carries a hyperlink, don't click on it.  I will do my best to stay vigilant.  All of the postings though are safe, safe, safe.  I will keep you updated if I ever need to change the linking, but they will always to be Uploadstation, Wupload, Youtube or Archive.org.  Unless it is a post detailing or promoting another site like viddb.com which I did yesterday.

Thanks!

A New File Hosting Option Has Come Our Way

Working and talking with Mark over at Viddb.com, he as steered me in the direction of Archive.org as a file hosting option.  I will be slowly uploading and using it for the stock files I create. At the moment my first batch was with my first post here.  The Archive.org files are simply "Right Click Save"

Mark has been very helpful, and it is thanks to people like him that this site has been doing very well.  I hope to showcase more people like in a new section I will be creating showcasing other people in the Free Stock Video world.  Hopefully together we can create a nice network.  When you get time, please go visit Mark over at Viddb.com and check out the clips he has available.  He has been VERY busy populating his site, you will even see clips from Beachfront there!

You can help too!  Please bookmark, facebook, tweet and share Viddb.com as well at this site.

Progression

I have been working on an updated way of organizing the many different clips offered here on this blog.  If you check out the Timelapse tab (or click here) you will see a new look I am going for in the individual pages.  It is slow but necessary work.

It also lets me keep track of the files a lot easier, each download link on those pages brings you back to the original posting.  This way I only have to keep one link updated to make sure the files are available when you need them.

I wanted to include file hosting through Vimeo, but every HD file I uploaded to them was down-converted to 1280x720.  Wupload has also changed their hosting a little bit, and I am no longer able to keep track of the clips.  I will look for another file hosting site, but right now, Uploadstation is the reliable option.

Stay tuned for many more clips soon!

New Month! More clips coming soon!

Happy December everyone!  Sorry about my lack of updates in November, work was challenging and family obligations were enourmous.  I did have a chance to shoot a bit, but I need to process them and upload.  But expect an update hopefully later today, and throughout the week/month.

I wanted to quickly pass along a deal I saw advertised today. I will note, I personally do not benefit from you clicking this link.  I shoot all of the videos you see here on this site currently with the Canon T2i.  Newegg.com has the camera on sale for $629 after entering promo code "EMCJHKJ68" (Marked down from $799)

This is a great price for an HD DSLR Camera.  If you have been interested in getting into the game, I strongly suggest this as your entry camera.

Feel free to ask any questions in the comment section below.

Another Update

Hey Everyone,

Just another quick update.  I notices that the file hosting sites I use, although free, have a limit to the amount of time they can stay online.  I have recently re-uploaded and updated the site to include every clip again, but please comment if you find a clip that has been removed.  I will do my best to keep them updated, so hopefully you will not notice anything.

Happy Downloading!

As always, please e-mail, facebook, tweet, google plus or do whatever you can to spread the word about this site.  Thanks!
