1 Completely Free Stock Footage Clip Is up in Flames

I'm happy to offer this clip for you to use, but can't take 100% of the credit for it's creation.  What I mean by that, is this was created by using a free effects preset for After Effects by the amazing people over at RocketStock. They have a pretty awesome "freebie" (I like to consider it outreach) area where they offer this preset. While I did create the "solid" the effect was applied to, and  I manipulated and altered the flames to my liking, their free preset did a lot of the heavy lifting. So if you get a chance after downloading this, go check out RocketStock and see what they are all about, they deserve the traffic.

You are welcome to use this video in your projects you are working on, or keep it in your clip library for future work. The only thing you cannot do is turn around and offer it AS stock footage. Have fun with it!

2 Completely Free Stock Footage Clips for Every Fiber of Your Being

I've made 2 more clips using the optical fibers I had on hand.  The lamp passes a spectrum of color through the filament, so you get a pulsing wash of color.  If you are interested in a more sterile clip, I had success in first reducing the saturation completely, and then adding a light sterile blue hue to it.  The result is a pulsing "tech" blue light that you would normally attribute to something IT or computer related.

The first clip is a straight on shot from the side, of the filaments sticking out of the lamp.  This would work great as a background for text or during an open or credit roll.  The second is a shot from the top down, out of focus to enhance the bokeh.  This would be helpful as either a background or a slightly opaque overlay.

I am very interested to see what you can do with these.

I hope you enjoy these two clips. You are welcome to use them in your projects you are working on, or keep them in your clip library for future work. The only thing you cannot do is turn around and offer them AS stock footage. Have fun with them!

1 Completely Free Stock Footage Clip Needs Fiber

I found a fiber optic filament filament lamps at a thrift store and we have been using it as my daughter's night light.  I had originally bought it to get a few stock footage clips from it.  The one here will be the first of a few.  I want some others to be slightly more generic so people can use it in their projects about technology.  If you follow me regularly, you know that I love using negative space and I think for stock purposes it is very valuable.  Many times stock footage is very helpful as place-cards and/or backgrounds for more information.  I've kept the rainbow coloring, but you are obviously welcome to change it based on your needs.  I had luck making a default "fiber optic blue" by de-saturating the clip and then adding color back using a "hue" effect in premiere.

1 Free Stock Footage Clip Needs to Focus More

I've been hoping to post a few more abstract clips for people to use as backgrounds in their work.  The somewhat unique thing about this clip is that it is ACTUAL footage ... no After Effects here.  These are from 2 sets of outdoor string lights I bought on clearance from the hardware store bunched together.  The lights are supposed to mimic fireflies.  I put my camera lens a few inches away and set the focus to infinity.  The result is a beautiful, natural bokeh background. The color is true to what the light produced, but you are more than welcome to tint it in your NLE to match your project's asthetic.

1 HD Clip Drips in the Dark

Not exactly sure how I was able to pull this clip off, but I love the way it looks.  It might be helpful for anyone looking for an atmospheric background.

As you may know, recently I am pushing the boundaries as far as how many media files I can associate with each clip through Archive.org.  You have the option of downloading a PhotoJPEG, H.264 or WMV file. I'd also like to go back and update all of the earlier clips and will do so eventually.  Doing so is a very big time commitment for me with the current processing power of my computer.

1 HD Clip Needs a Pot of Gold

I was fortunate enough to stumble across Attila Vago's blog "BitsBits".  It is there where you can find the best free things on the internet.  He posted an offer by Daz3D  for free licensing of the 3D modeling program Bryce 7.1.  I used Bryce over a decade ago in college, so I was interested in trying it out again.

Getting back into the swing of things, I was able to put this little clip together in very little time, but rendering it out proved to be a resource hog on my tiny little laptop.  To me its an abstract look at what it may be like to travel through a rainbow if it was something more than an optical illusion and refracted light.

This clip is loopable.

1 HD Clip Leaks a Little

I have been experimenting with a couple of general effects and thought it might be kind of cool to create my own "Light Leak".  These videos are used traditionally as an overlay and helps transition between clips.  They give a very nostalgic effect to your footage, and really helps those people going for that "instagram" like look in their video.

I went about creating it a little differently and stacked 2 lenses to give myself a slight pinhole of exposure.  People can now scale the leak to any size as well as position it any way they'd like to get the desired effect.

I'll post some examples of people using the light leak effect correctly to our Facebook page.

1 Clips is Prismatic

Made this looping background after I had the idea of layering primary colors using different blending effects in After Effects.  I thought it turned out pretty cool.  Enjoy!

1 Clip is Burning For You

Ventured into the world of effects the other day and came up with this pretty cool film burn.  Normally you would overlay this on whatever video you are working on to give it that old, torn look.  Past the break I also have a preview video I created using this burn effect and one of my stock video clips with a little motion blur applied to it.

1 Clip is Clouded more than it is Cloudy

There were some wonderful clouds moving through the sky the other day and I thought I would try something a little different.  It didn't work out that great, and it turns out the clouds were moving much faster than I had anticipated.  This is what the final product ended up being, and actually I am suprised at how nice it looks.  It definitely is more abstract, but may make a nice background for someone or overlay.

2 Clips keep Looping

Had a chance to put together 2 more looping backgrounds. The "Thermal" clip I thought of after watching Predators (not bad).  The "Blonde" clip I came up with after playing around with waves and scaling in After Effects.  Although off the top of my head I cannot think of a time to use the clip, I really, really like it.  My wife says that it looks like wheat as well.  Maybe there is something there.

Animated Thermal background, looking like something a futuristic hunter would uselayers of blonde strands animated to look like hair or wheat
