3 Free Stock Footage Clips Are Good for the Gander

I found myself looking for something to shoot the other day before making my way into the office.  I decided to go down to a pond that I know has a variety of waterfowl that consistently visit.  While I am happy with how these turned out, due to the side of the water they decided to gather on, I was fighting the sun for a good portion of it.  There were other clips I had captured, but between the hard glare of the sun, the tiny size of the LCD screen in relation to the glare, and my more than brisk pace to capture something nice within the time frame I had given myself, I was kind of guessing on the focus sometimes. This, in my opinion, didn't make the footage as sharp as it needed to be.  I hope to get a larger/better monitor soon.   These 3 files though, passed my personal QC requirements.

As far as my winged subjects go, they really didn't care that I was there which was nice, but that just meant they would slowly drift away from me.  I feel a little bad, because I had to keep pretending to throw bread/seeds so the birds would come closer to me and stay at least a little bit interested.  Overall it was a peaceful fun morning, I just need to figure out how to drink coffee and shoot at the same time better and I'll be all set.

One wonderful benefit to going out and shooting random videos, is you get to learn quite a bit about your subjects.  Like my friend in the 2nd clip.  What I HAD though was just a goose, might actually be a "swan goose" (I'm in the process of trying to verify this since they are native to China and Russia mostly).  I didn't really know there were that many different types.  I also didn't know that I would be so interested in finding this stuff out.  I'll be a Ornithologist before you know it.

So here you are.  3 free clips that should cut somewhat well together if you need them for a project.  If I could do it differently, I would have varied my subject placement to alternate between left and right justified, but hey,  maybe I'll go get some more to solve that.

4 Stock Footage Clips are Gull-ible

While I was at the lake getting some great shots of the water, I managed to get pretty close to some seagulls who were hanging out.  They were mostly riding the wind close to shore, looking for food.  The wind was so heavy, they really didn't need to flap their wings that much.  The slow motion really helps capture the moment.

I've pretty much uploaded these clips untouched (not graded).  I tried to better expose the bird, and lost a lot of detail in the sky ... when I tried to level out the sky, it darkened the gull.  I decided to leave it up to you and your needs for this clip.  Touch it up how you see fit.

Once again I've included some different shots to hopefully help in editing.

1 Clip is for the Birds

This video file I am offering to you is actually a collection of 8 clips. This bird you see was having a fun time coming to the feeder and then jumping away (back to his/her nest maybe?). ANYWAYS, It was taken in the early AM as you can see a rather pastel color palette in the background. The depth of field is fairly short, but the little bugger is in it more often than not.

7 Clips are a Little More Scenic

Hey everybody.

I'm getting closer to getting in a routine where I can update this blog at a steadier pace. My goal would be 4-5 clips per week.

Here is some footage I shot in the early morning at a body of water near where I live.  Enjoy!
