2 Free Stock Footage Clips Have Met Their Match

This shot is one I've been wanting to do ever since I got the FS-700.  It is also one that was suggested to me by a "follower" on Facebook.

One of the things I love about working through these random shots is realizing where my current limitations are and developing strategies, plans and work-arounds to improve.  While I like both of these clips, I was pushing the boundaries of my Sigma 24mm Macro lens.  The matchbox was as close as I could get and still stay in it's minimum depth of field.  At this distance and focal length, the match head was not filling the frame as much as I had originally envisioned.  To me, this experience then means researching and eventually purchasing a longer macro lens for extreme close-ups (Please feel free to leave suggestions of what type YOU like in the comment section below).

The one benefit to restricting myself to this distance, was the amount of surface area I had on the match box to strike it and still keep the action in frame ... holy cow!  It was REALLY hard to strike that match, even within these wider than desired confines.  If you look closely, you'll be able to see the wood bending due to the force that I needed to apply to get the match to ignite.

3 Stock Footage Clips for a Fan

I tend to browse Twitter daily, reading news from the stock footage world.  The other day, I came across a Twitter user who was coming up with nothing when looking for free stock footage of an electric fan.  Since I am always looking for my next clip idea, I replied to his tweet to see if there was anything specific he was looking for.  Fortunately the type of fan he was looking for was similar to an old one I had in my basement at home.  That night I captured some shots to offer online.

These clips were shot at 240 frames per second.  I wanted to reduce the motion blur on the spinning blades, knowing the footage can be easily sped up. The opposite, not so much.  Once again I've included some different shots to hopefully help in editing.

1 Clips Grass is Greener

I really wanted to get a shot like this.  I had a lot of fun mounting the camera.  With the few mounting arms and adjustable grips that I had, I feel it stayed where it needed to be pretty good, considering the amount of force I needed to apply to push the mower through the lawn (that I unfortunately let get a little too long).  Also, watching this in slow motion I noticed that my yard has a pretty high clover to glass blade ratio.  Not something that I would have observed just stepping on the stuff.

1 Clip is Blinding

Shot this clip in my home a little while ago.  I've been wanting to get some clips up that have some sort of motion or action in them for people to use.  Right now, this is what I can give.  You will see me walk into the background and pull up the shades and open the window.  EXCITING RIGHT? Hey, you may need it someday.

Random Footage: Clip 1

Shot this the other day, and don't really have a release theme for it. I have decided to pepper into my other posts, some random individual clips.  Who knows, maybe we have a recurring segment started.

Enjoy!
